Therapeutic Philosophy

The lotus flower is symbolic of the philosophy behind Lucas Insight Counseling Services. The lotus is notorious for growing in environments that are muddy, dirty, and, too harsh for some other plants and flowers. Somehow, that lotus is determined to make it through the muck and blooms into something beautiful, known through out the world and history for its triumph.

We can think of people in a similar sense. Sure, "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger" can also be neutralized with "what doesn't kill you still really, really hurts." But, some of the most genuine, adaptable, and kind people have been through the “thick of it”, otherwise known as trauma, and it's often because of the scars, dirt, and imperfections they are left with that they transformed into the most authentic and genuine souls.

With therapy, we can work to cultivate the lifestyle and ability to adapt and cope that you desire to have. Just like planting seeds, the process to changing your life, or aspects of it, is not quick and without some backbreaking efforts, blood, sweat, and tears. Everybody has a story and a need to be heard, understood, and validated. The first step of reaching out to a potential therapist should be hugely celebrated! Starting the process by looking at therapy as “just talking” to someone who is willing and eager to listen may ease any anxiety or discomfort, fear, or lack of trust that may exist.

We will consider the presenting issues from a holistic health approach, which empowers and broadens the ability of the client to make decisions about the strategies they can chose from to take action. We make change one small step at a time. I look forward to coming along side of you - wherever you are in the process of life -hearing your story, and working together!

The lotus flower blooms most beautifully from the deepest and thickest mud.
